Procedure

Apply online

  1. To Apply for Lawyer License, the applicant has to make the application online via link
  2. The applicant has to click the “Apply Now” button.
  3. If the applicant is a new user, the applicant has to click the “Apply Now” button.
  4. The pop-up information will be shown if the new user, the applicant has to click “No”.
  5. Select the no option and click the “Next” button.
  6. Enter all the registration details and click the “Next” button.
  7. The applicant will get the confirmation through the mail and click the “Submit” button.
  8. Now the applicant has to enter the details in the application form.
  9. Also, upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  10. Pay the prescribed fee in online mode.
  11. The applicant has to click the “Submit” button.
  12. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  13. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  14. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  15. Some provinces require applicants to complete a professional responsibility course or attend an orientation session on legal ethics and professional responsibility.
  16. If your application is approved, you will attend a licensing ceremony conducted by the law society or bar association. At the ceremony, you will take an oath of office and officially become licensed to practice law.
  17. This entire process can be completed within 3 - 4 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
