1. Go to the City Clerk's Office.
2. Fill out an application form Marriage License Application. Application form for marriage license can also be completed online via City Clerk Online.
3. Present required documents.
4. Pay the marriage license fee.

• Proper Identification Documents:
  • Driver License with photograph (from the United States of America or any of its territories)
  • Non-Driver Identification Card with photograph (from the United States of America or any of its territories)
  • Learner Permit with photograph (from the United States of America or any of its territories)
  • Active United States Military Identification Card
  • Passport
  • United States Certificate of Naturalization (good for 10 years after date of issue)
  • United States Permanent Resident Card
  • United States Employment Authorization Card

• Both applicants must be of legal age, 18 years old and above.
• For applicants under the age of 18, a written parental consent is required.
• For applicants under the age of 16, a written parental consent and the written approval of a Judge of the Supreme Court or Family Court is needed.

Marriage License fee: $40.00

The Marriage License is valid for 60 days (except for active military personnel, for whom the validity runs for 180 days). It can be used anywhere within New York State but may not be used outside New York State.

• Application to obtain a marriage license can begin with an online process via City Clerk Online.
• Both parties should appear together in person at the Office of the City Clerk.
• Proxy marriage is not allowed.
• Application forms for marriage license can be obtained from the information desk and you must complete the application at the City Clerk's office.
• You must wait a full 24 hours before your Marriage Ceremony can be performed unless you obtain a Judicial Waiver.
