3. Submit the required documents. Note: If you are not the named owner, or the owner was deceased, you must have with you an SPA.
4. Pay the fees.

Conditions

• You must be the owner of the vehicle or boat.
• You must have a current U.S. address on file with the DMV.
• The vehicle must be registered and titled in New York State.
• There can be no other changes to the information listed on the title certificate.

Duplicate Title Fee: $20.00

• A title ordered before 8 p.m. on Tuesday is printed on the next business day and mailed on the second business day.
• A title ordered on Monday through Thursday after 8 p.m. is printed two business days after ordered; mailed on the third business day.
• A title ordered on Friday, Saturday or Sunday is printed on Monday; mailed on Tuesday.

• Application can be done by mail, in person or online. The fastest way is to order online.
• A duplicate title certificate cannot be ordered online if:
  • a title certificate was processed within the last 15 days;
  • the title certificate is;
  • a duplicate title certificate with a lien removed;
  • an original or amended title certificate;
  • in the name of a deceased owner;
  • ordered using a Power of Attorney.
• To duplicate a title certificate, you will need the following when ordering online:
  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Hull Identification Number (HIN)
  • model year and vehicle make (Ford, Dodge)
  • date of birth of the owner (if the owner is a person and not a business)
  • ZIP Code for the registration mailing address.

• Name
• Date and Place of birth
• Citizenship
• Details of the vehicle

In order to be eligible for obtaining a duplicate title certificate, your Name must appear on the certificate of title of the vehicle before you can be a issued a duplicate certificate.
