1. Read the Road Users Handbook and the pamphlet Getting your driver license.
2. Book your Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) online at myTests, by phoning 13 22 13 or at any registry.
3. Go to NSW registry office. To find your nearest registry office, click this link: http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/index.cgi?action=motorregistries.form.
4. Bring along with you the required documents to prove your identity.
5. Pay the fees.
6. Take your Driver Knowledge Test.
7. If you pass the test, you can obtain your learner driver's license.

To get your learner license you must:

• be 16 years of age or older

A learner driver's license is a restricted license that is given to a person who is learning to drive, but has not yet satisfied the requirements to obtain a driver's license.
