New South Wales - Apply for Glider Pilot License

Apply by Post

  1. To Apply for Glider Pilot License, the applicant has to approach the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) link
  2. Before you can begin flight training, you need to obtain a Student Pilot Certificate. This involves completing an application form and meeting the medical fitness requirements set by CASA.
  3. Find a reputable flight training school or club that offers glider pilot training. Enroll in their program and begin your flight training under the supervision of a qualified flight instructor.
  4. Study the relevant flight training materials and pass the theoretical knowledge exam administered by CASA. The exam covers topics such as aerodynamics, aviation regulations, meteorology, navigation, and emergency procedures.
  5. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. or it can be downloaded from the following link link
  6. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  7. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  8. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  9. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned office mailing address.
  10. The mailing address is mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
  11. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  12. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  13. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  14. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  15. If everything meets the requirements, you will be issued a Glider Pilot License. The license will specify the privileges and limitations of your piloting privileges.
  16. This entire process can be completed within 2 – 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
