New Brunswick - Apply for Pharmacist License


Procedure

Apply by Mail:

  1. To Apply for Pharmacist License, the applicant has to approach the Canadian Pharmacists Association link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned branch officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Demonstrate proficiency in English or French, the official languages of Canada. This may involve providing proof of language proficiency through standardized language tests, such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP).
  7. Depending on the province, you may be required to pass the PEBC Evaluating Exam. This exam assesses your knowledge and understanding of the Canadian pharmacy practice.
  8. Complete the PEBC Qualifying Exam (Part I and Part II), which assesses your competency in pharmacy practice and clinical skills. These exams are typically required for licensure in most provinces.
  9. Fulfil the practical experience requirements set by the licensing authority. This may involve completing a certain number of supervised practice hours or a structured practical training program, such as an internship or residency.
  10. Some provinces require candidates to pass a jurisprudence exam, which assesses your knowledge of the laws, regulations, and ethics related to pharmacy practice in that specific jurisdiction.
  11. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned office mailing address.
  12. The mailing address is mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
  13. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  14. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  15. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  16. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  17. Undergo a criminal record check and provide any additional documentation or information required for background checks.
  18. Once the application is approved, the applicant will receive your pharmacist license from the licensing authority. This license grants you legal permission to practice pharmacy in the specific province or territory.
  19. This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
