1. A driving licence has expired if the dates under the headers 'vernieuwen voor' [renew before] (this is printed on paper licences) or 'geldig tot' [valid until] (this is printed on new licences) have passed.
2. You can renew your licence by applying to your local municipal authority.
3. You do not have to re-take a driving test.
4. Please note that extension is still possible if the licence's period of validity has already expired.

A new licence is issued in principle:

• if the applicant is under 60: for 10 years;
• if the applicant is between 60 and 65: until the age of 70;
