• A Mozambique national who clocks 18 is required to submit a request for the ID to the province/district .
• All family members residing in a particular province have previously completed forms and been registered.
• So cards are issued accordingly, after request.
• Those who change address and come to reside in a new District should provide a release from their previous Districts or region if from outside the capital City.
• For those who have never had a District card, it should be testified by three witnesses that they were resident or members of a particular family residing in the District.

The ID card must be renewed after every 5 years, until the holder turns 40.

An ID card issued to cardholders who are between the age of 40 and 50 will be valid for 10 years.

And for ID cards issued to cardholders who are older than 50, the ID is valid for life.
