A Journalist Visa is given to professional journalists and photographers for up to three months' stay in Morocco.

The fist thing for the applicant should be to submit proof of being a journalist/ Identity Card of the applicant registered as a journalist.

All journalists by profession traveling as tourists, including those having a degree in journalism and not practicing journalism, should give an undertaking in the form of a letter addressed to the Embassy of Morocco, Rabat that they are going to Morocco as tourists only and will not indulge in any journalistic activities. Those going to Morocco for journalism should clearly mention so in their applications.

If you are intending to make a documentary in Morocco, kindly contact the Press and Information wing in the Embassy/Consulate. Processing time for such visits would usually depend on the approval that may be required from concerned Ministries/Departments of Government of Morocco and state government, as the case may be.

The procedure is divided into two stages

Stage 1 (before arrival)

• You need to visit the nearest Morocco Embassy and apply for journalist visa. Nearly all applications are approved without any difficulties.
• The embassy then requests the "approval" from the Foreign Media Department in Rabat.
• The Foreign Media Department then sends the approval to the embassy, together with the customs clearance (for the equipment to be brought into the country).
• Then you need to re-visit the embassy to provide a list of all the equipment to be brought into Morocco.
• Finally the embassy issues the visa stamp and the customs clearance for the equipment.

Stage 2 (after arrival)

• With the visa stamp in your passport you travel to Morocco.
• After arrival in Morocco, your first point of contact is the FMD (Foreign Media Department) in Rabat, to provide them with a full list of all the sites you would like to visit or film.
• Finally, the Foreign Media Department will issue the necessary paper work: 'permission' to film the listed sites, and an 'ID', which you must carry with you at all times.

• Print out of a Completed visa application form available on the website of the Morocco Immigration Affairs :-www.maec.gov.ma ;
• All supporting documents and letters (listed above) must be provided on the relevant organisations letter-head paper and in addition, documents must be provided and addressed to: Hon Minister of Expatriates and immigration Affairs Room 3, Avenue F. Roosevelt Rabat Morocco .

To be eligible you must be a Professional journalist,Columnist, cartoonist/editor, Photographer, Film producer or director (other than of commercial films),A representative of a radio and/or television organization, Travel writer/travel promotion photographer broadcast of audio visual news etc. intending to visit Morocco for on a mission of gathering news or capturing news or Filming sites.

• Fee is dependent on the nationality of the passport on which the applicant is traveling and it is subject to changes without notice. So please check.
• One visa single entry $100.
• The fee for each applicant is 70.00
• There is an additional charge of 20.00 (Twenty Pounds) processing fee payable to the Morocco High Commission, Postal Orders. Please note that the High Commission does NOT accept CASH payments.
• The weekly filming fee is $150 payable on arrival to the Accreditation Section, Ministry of Expatriates and Immigration Affairs, Rabat;

This journalist visa is valid for 3 months only with a single entry. Regardless of the entry status, it can be renewed upon request.

Processing time take less than a one month but because of the complexity it can exceed that time. Visas for journalists cannot be fast-tracked and may take longer than five (5) working days to process;

• If you intend to visit or film sites in Morocco, then you need to obtain a journalist Visa which include those sites in the list of the sites you intend to film.
• If you secure permission from the Foreign Affairs Media Department for the whole list (as of the above procedure) then you can visit and film in all the sites approved in list.
• It is therefore necessary to include all the sites you intend to visit in the list before you submit it to the Foreign Affairs media Department.

• Documents customs clearance for the equipments to be brought into the country.
• A list of all the equipment to be brought into Morocco.
• A valid passport for less than 6 months to expire.

Visa is a mandatory requirement for anyone to enter Morocco, including children. One should ensure its possession before planning to enter Morocco. When you want to stay in Morocco as a professional journalist and photographer for any period of time, you will first need to take care of a few formalities. One of those formalities is applying for a journalist visa.

There are very specific requirements, dictated by Moroccan immigration law, which must be met by applicants in order to qualify for the Journalist visa.

The applicants need to submit their visa applications directly to the visa section of the Embassy of Morocco.

A Notice from the government authority in charge of communication is required in order to Obtain a Moroccan journalist Visa.
