Montenegro - Obtain a Travel Certificate for Lost Passport


Procedure

  1. If you have lost your passport while you are outside Montenegro, you should immediately, without delay, report this to the local police authorities in order to get a police report. You will need the present the report when you apply for a travel certificate and a new passport.
  2. You will also need to report the loss of your passport to the nearest diplomatic or consular representative office of Montenegro.
  3. When you apply for a travel certificate you will need to submit these following documents together with the police report:
    1. Certificate of Montenegrin citizenship
    2. Proof of identity
    3. Two photos (3,5 x 4,5 cm)
  4. If any of the above-stated documents are not in the possession of the applicant or cannot be obtained, the competent diplomatic or consular representative office will provide necessary documents for the purpose of the issuance of the travel certificate and will enable the applicant to return to Montenegro.


Note: Where there is no Montenegrin diplomatic or consular representative office, Montenegrin nationals may contact Serbian diplomatic or consular representative office in order to provide them consular protection and issue travel certificate. Also, Montenegrin nationals in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Kazakhstan may contact diplomatic or consular representative office of Bulgaria.

To obtain a travel certificate, an applicant will need to go to a diplomatic or consular representative office of Montenegro abroad.
