Apply In-Person:
- To Register with National Immigration Institute, the applicant has to approach the National Institute of Migration (INM) link
- Visit the Mexican consulate or embassy in your home country or the Mexican embassy or consulate closest to your location. Submit the necessary documents and apply for the visa that matches the purpose of your stay.
- If your visa application is approved, you will receive your visa. Make sure to read and understand the conditions of your visa, including the duration of your stay and any restrictions or requirements.
- Travel to Mexico and enter the country with your visa. Upon arrival, you may be required to complete an immigration form, which is typically handed out during your flight or available at the port of entry.
- Within 30 days of your arrival in Mexico, you must visit the local office of the National Institute of Migration (INM) to complete the registration process. Locate the nearest INM office to your place of residence.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- If your registration is approved, you will be issued a Temporary Resident Card (Tarjeta de Residente Temporal) if you are staying for more than 180 days. For other visa types, you may receive a different type of permit or card.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
