Procedure
Apply via Agent
Apply In-Person:
- To Obtain General or Special Power of Attorney, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs link
- The applicant has to visit the office on the appointment date.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- For further process, the applicant has to follow the instruction given by the officer.
- This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Need for the Document
- A Power of Attorney (POA) is a legal document that allows an individual, called the principal, to appoint another person, called an agent or attorney-in-fact, to act on their behalf in legal, financial, or other matters. In Mexico, a Power of Attorney is called "Poder Notarial."
- A Power of Attorney must be granted in writing and signed by the principal before a notary public in Mexico.
- It is important to note that a Power of Attorney can only be granted by a person who has legal capacity to do so, and the agent must act in accordance with the terms of the POA and within the scope of their authority.
