Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Tour Guide License, the applicant has to approach the Municipal government link Ministry of Tourism link
- Depending on the jurisdiction, you may need to meet certain qualifications to become a licensed tour guide. These qualifications may include completing a tour guide training program or obtaining a relevant degree or certification in tourism, hospitality, or a related field.
- Ensure that you fulfil the educational requirements specified by the local tourism authorities.
- Some jurisdictions may require tour guides to hold a valid First Aid and CPR certification. Check if this certification is mandatory and undergo the necessary training to obtain it if needed.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee of 1,000 pesos.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further.
- They may conduct interviews or assessments as part of the evaluation process.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- If your application is approved, you will receive your Tour Guide License.
- This entire process can be completed within 2 – 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
Required Documents
- Completed application form: Obtain the application form from the local tourism authority or licensing body. Fill it out accurately and completely.
- Proof of qualifications: Provide copies of your educational degrees, certifications, or training program completion certificates relevant to tour guiding.
- Language proficiency certifications: If language proficiency is required, submit the appropriate language certification(s) or test results.
- First Aid and CPR certification: If required, include a copy of your valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Identification documents: Provide copies of your identification documents, such as a passport, national identification card, or driver's license.
- Passport-sized photos: Prepare passport-sized photos as per the specifications mentioned in the application guidelines.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for a tour guide license in Mexico, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of Mexico or a foreigner with a permanent resident visa.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be fluent in Spanish and at least one other language.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Complete a 510-hour training course in tourism and guide services.
- Pass a written and practical exam.
Fees
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee of 1,000 pesos.
Validity
- The validity of the license is four years.
