1. To apply for Public Carrier State Goods Vehicle permit in Meghalaya the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

3. Application form can be downloaded using the following link: Application forms and Parivahan Forms Link
   
4. Make sure you have completed respective application form obtained directly from respective RTO
   
5. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
   
6. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
   
7. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
   
8. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built, Capacity to withstand the load etc., will be carried by authorities.
   
9. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed.
   
   

1. Completed Application in Form for private Carrier State goods Vehicle permit
   
2. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
   
3. Fitness Certificate.
   
4. Proof of payment of tax for the current Quarter.
   
5. Insurance Certificate.
   
6. Authorization in the bank draft.
   
7. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
   
8. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
   
9. Demand drafts drawn in favor of the Authorities prescribed in respect of other states towards payment of composite taxes.

• Applicant should be the owner of the vehicle.
  
• The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years
  
  

No Fees

• Valid to use the vehicle within the state
  
• Permit is usually valid for 5 years
  
• The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO
  
• The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit
  

NOTE: Validity differs with the type of vehicle and also for the load the vehicle can manage

• Public carrier state goods vehicle permit refers to a vehicle used to transport goods within the state.
  
• A public carrier does transport of goods as its primary business and, thus, transport the goods of other companies( common carrier )
  
• The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.
  
  

• An operator can transport items / Goods as classified within India
  
• FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities
