Mauritius - Obtain Permit or Licence to Import Birds


Procedure

Apply In Person

  1. To apply for an import permit to Import Birds, the applicant should make the application to the Ministry of Agro Industry and Food Security, Division of Veterinary Services. Please view the ministry’s contact details through this Contact Details.
  2. Visit the ministry’s office and collect the application form in person at the Division of Veterinary Services reception or download the form directly through this Application Form.
  3. Complete the application form providing all the required information accurately.
  4. Then gather and prepare all the required supporting documents for the application and attach the documents to the application form.
  5. Then visit the ministry’s office and pay the application fee at the cashier's office and obtain the payment receipt.
  6. The applicant should then submit the complete application file including the payment receipt to the official at the Division of Veterinary Services import permit application desk.
  7. The official will verify the application and confirm if all the required supporting documents are attached and if the form is completed accordingly and the applicant will be issued with the application receipt.
  8. The application will then be processed and submitted to Import Permit Committee after taking into consideration the disease situation in exporting country.
  9. The committee will then deliberate on the application and decide to approve or dismiss the application.
  10. If the application is approved, the import permit will be processed and issued to the applicant within 15 working days.
