Apply In Person

1. To apply for a duplicate vehicle registration book in case it is lost or stolen, the applicant should make the application to the National Land Transport Authority (NLTA). Please view the National Land Transport Authority contact details through this Contact details.
2. The applicant should first visit the nearest police to report the lost or stolen Vehicle Registration Book and obtain the police report.
3. After obtaining the police report, the applicant should visit the National Land Transport Authority office and obtain the application form for a Duplicate Registration Book or download the form directly through this Application form and complete the form as required.
4. Then prepare the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the application filled application form.
5. Then visit the National Land Transport Authority office and pay the application fee of Rs. (MUR) 1000 at the cashier’s office and obtain the payment receipt.
6. Upon the application fee payment, submit the application to the National Land Transport Authority official at the service desk.
7. The official will check if the application form is completed accordingly and if the applicant has provided the relevant supporting documents.
8. If the application is complete, the applicant will be issued with the acknowledgment receipt and the application will be forwarded to the National Land Transport Authority license officials for evaluation.
9. The application will be assessed at the National Land Transport Authority office and if it meets the required standards, the application will be approved and processed.
10. Upon processing of the application, the applicant will be issued with a duplicate registration book within one day.

Note:

1. If the applicant cannot apply in person, the applicant can request someone else to collect the duplicate on the applicant’s behalf, however, when filling in the application form, the applicant will have to specify the name of the person and his/her National Identity Card number. The applicant will also have to send their National Identity Card to the person collecting the duplicate on their behalf.
