Mauritius - Get Retired Non Citizen Permit or License

Apply In Person:

  1. To Get Retired Non Citizen Permit or License in Mauritius, applicant must first contact the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Mauritius link
  2. Applicants should download the Application Form from this website link.
  3. Complete the application form and attach all necessary supporting documents, such as a valid passport, proof of financial means, medical report, police report and they can be found under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. Once the application is complete, it must be submitted to the EDB for review.
  5. Pay the fees associated with the permit/license application and they can be found under the “Fees” section of this page.
  6. Once the application form is submitted to the EDB, the applicant will be required to submit additional documents, such as a business plan and a financial statement.
  7. The Immigration Office will then review the application and decide whether or not to grant the permit/license.
  8. If the application is approved, the applicant will be notified and given instructions on how to proceed with the process.
  9. The applicant must then submit the required documents to the Immigration Office within the specified time frame.
  10. The applicant will then be asked to attend an interview at the Immigration Office.
  11. The applicant must attend an interview with an immigration officer to discuss the application and verify all required documents.
  12. After the interview, the applicant will receive a letter of approval or denial.
  13. If approved, the applicant will be issued a Retired Non-Citizen Permit/License.
  14. The applicant must then abide by all laws and regulations in Mauritius while holding the permit/license.
  15. The applicant must then register with the local police station.
  16. The applicant must then apply for a Residence Permit at the Immigration Office.
  17. Finally, the applicant must keep their Retired Non-Citizen Permit/License valid by renewing it each year.
  18. Processing time for this procedure is 4-6 weeks depending on the complexity of the application.

Eligibility

  • In Mauritius, anyone over the age of 55 who is not a citizen or permanent resident and has an income of at least USD $2,000 per month is eligible to apply for a Get Retired Non Citizen Permit or License.
  • Applicant must provide proof of sufficient funds to cover your living and medical expenses, as well as evidence of private medical insurance.
