Apply In-Person:
- To apply for an Investor Permit or License in Mauritius, applicant must first contact the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Mauritius link
- The EDB is responsible for providing business and investment advice, as well as for processing applications for Investor Permits and Licenses.
- Once the applicant has contacted the EDB, they will need to submit a proposal outlining the nature and scope of the investment, as well as their background and experience. The EDB will review their proposal and may request additional information as needed.
- Once their proposal is approved, they will need to submit an application for an Investor Permit or License to the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius. This application must include a business plan and all required documents.
- Applicants can get the Application Form from the Economic Development Board (EDB) authority.
- Applicants should fill in all the details on the application form. This application will include information about the investor's identity, their proposed business activities, and the amount of capital they intend to invest.
- Supporting documents must also be submitted along with the application form, such as a business plan, proof of financial soundness, and a certificate of good standing from the applicant’s previous regulatory authority and they can be found under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After the documents have been received and reviewed by the EDB, the applicant will be required to attend an interview with EDB officials to discuss their proposed business plan.
- Once the application is accepted, the investor must pay the relevant permit or license fee and they can be found under the “Fees” section of this page.
- If the applicant is approved for an Investor Permit or License, they will be issued with a Certificate of Registration.
- The applicant will then be required to register their business with the Companies Registrar in Mauritius and obtain any necessary authorizations or permits from the relevant government authorities. This allows the business to operate legally in Mauritius and to open a bank account.
- Once the business is registered, the applicant will be required to submit their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) to the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA). This will allow them to pay taxes in Mauritius. Applicants will be required to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as to pay all applicable taxes.
- Finally, the applicant will need to apply for a work permit, if they intend to employ foreign citizens in their business. The work permit must be applied for from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population.
- Once all the necessary steps have been completed, the applicant will be able to operate their business legally in Mauritius and will be issued with a valid Investor Permit or License.
- Processing time for applying for an Investor Permit or License is 4-6 weeks depending on the complexity of the application.

Eligibility
- In Mauritius, any person over 18 years of age who has a valid passport and the necessary funds to invest in the country is eligible for an investor permit or license.
- Additionally, applicants must have no criminal record in Mauritius or any other country.
Fees
- Applications fees for applying for investors Permit is US$2000.
Validity
- The Immigration Act also states that the Investor Permit is valid for 10 years.

Instructions
The process of obtaining an investor permit or license in Mauritius is relatively straightforward. It involves the following steps:
