Manitoba - Renew Driver License


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To renew a driver’s license, the applicant will need to visit the nearest Manitoba Public Insurance Autopac agent, find the nearest Autopac agent here: Link.
  2. Carry all relevant documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. Fill in the application form, enter all relevant details.
  4. The applicant will have their photo taken.
  5. The applicant will have to pay fees this can be done in instalment or the full amount can be paid.
  6. The applicant shall receive their new driver’s license by registered post within a few weeks from the submission of the application.


Apply by Mail

  1. To renew a driver’s license, the applicant will need to fill an application form, use the following Link.
  2. Download and complete the application form, fill in all relevant details.
  3. Attach copies of all relevant documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. Send in the completed application form along with the documents to the nearest Autopac agent’s office.
  5. The applicant will have to pay fees. Find payment-related information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  6. Find the office addresses under the “Office Locations and contacts” section of this page.
  7. The applicant shall receive their renewed driver’s license by mail within three weeks from the submission of the application.

    • Passport
    • Military ID
    • Health card
  • Proof of Alberta residency
  • Fee receipt

Eligibility

  • The applicant must have a full licence (G, M class) that isn’t cancelled or suspended.
  • The applicant hasn’t updated their address within the last 90 days.
  • The applicant doesn’t need tests.
  • The applicant has no new medical conditions that may prevent them from driving.
  • The applicant should not have any outstanding fines or penalties.
  • The applicant is a resident of Manitoba.

Validity

A driver’s license is valid for a period of 5 years after which it needs to be renewed.

Instructions

  • If the applicant is older than 70 years of age, they will need to show a medical clearance certificate.
  • If the applicant drives with an expired license, they will have to pay a fine and may face imprisonment.
