Lost Plates

1. Visit the Office of Land Transport Directorate Hall B between 07:30 and 12:00.
2. You will be asked to submit a copy of your identity card and make a declaration regarding the loss of the vehicle plate.
3. Complete Form VEH 39 (Maltese or English).
4. Produce the unique number of the remaining plate/s. If the plate was lost by another person, the you can write a declaration stating who lost the plate, and have that person sign the declaration.
5. You will be charged 43 administration fee ( 8.00 for the declaration and 35 for the issuance of the Vehicle Registration Plate).
6. In the case of loss or theft of both plates or in the case of a motorcycle, if the registration numbers are not personalised, the plates have to be changed. You will have to present the Road Licence Disc and Vehicle Registration Certificate. The new number plates with the updated logbook and road licence disc are to be issued at a fee of 88 (70 for the plates, 10 for the logbook and 8 for the declaration).

Change of Damaged Plate

Present the damaged plate at the Land Transport Directorate, Hall B between 07:30 and 12:00 between Monday and Friday. You may also change the size of the plate by producing your Identity Card, Form VEH 06 duly filled and the damaged plate.
