In order to be registered as a voter you must possess a valid identity card or eResidence card so that the Electoral Office can also have your photographic image, you should apply as follows:
When one applies either for the eIdentity Card or the eResidence Card one is automatically applying to be registered as a voter when one completes the relevant application forms.

You can register as voter any time of the year but since the electoral register is published every April and October, it would be best if you register prior to the closing dates, that is, before 31st March and 30th September.
A list which displays the kind of information which is required to complete the procedure. e.g. 1. Date of Birth. 2. City or County of Birth.
The electoral register lists the names, surnames, Identity/eResidence Card numbers and addresses of people who are registered to vote in elections and referenda.
The register is published twice annually in three formats:
Check if your name is on the electoral register: The register is not publish online. A hard copy can be viewed at the local council, at the District Police Station and at the Electoral Office. You can also phone the electoral office (phone: 21221994) or write an email to electoral.office@gov.mt to find out, you will need to provide your identity card or eResidence card number for this. The register may also be purchased from the Department of Information either in paper form or on cd.
Change your address on the electoral register: The Electoral Register is updated whenever there is an application for a change of address on the eIdentity Card or on the eResidence Card. Therefore, all you have to do is to apply for a change of address on your identification card at the relative offices.
