1. To obtain a private guard license the applicant has to contact the local police station who should be able to help you.
2. Before calling at the Police Licences Office, to file a private guard application, an applicant has to produce a certificate that s/he attended a Private Guard course in any of the licensed academies.
3. When the certificate is issued one has to call at the Police Licences Office at the Police General Headquarters in Floriana bringing the certificate as well as the identity card.
4. An application form is given to the applicant, and will be instructed to call at the Civil Court office to have a sworn declaration.
5. Submit the completed application form along with the required documents.

Note : It is to be noted, that if the applicant was a member of the Police Force, Armed Forces of Malta or was employed at the Corradino Correctional Facility, s/he has to produce also a declaration from the respective Human Resources Office. If the applicant is a government or parastatal body employee s/he has to produce a declaration from the Human Resources Office.
