Malta - Apply for Phytosanitary Certificate


Procedure

  1. To apply for a Phytosanitary Certificate, Applicant shall approach the Plant Protection Directorate. Contact details are listed below under the “office locations and contacts” section.
  2. You have to submit a request to the Plant Protection Directorate by Email.
  3. The applicant shall send a request along with the necessary information to the Plant Protection Directorate’s Official electronic address. Information is listed below under the “required documents” section.
  4. Please make sure you send the request forty-eight (48) hours in advance of scheduled time of export.
  5. Once your request is processed, the Plant Protection Directorate schedules an inspection.
  6. The inspector reviews the documents and inspects the shipment destined for export.
  7. Applicant has to pay the fees in accordance to regulation 19A and Schedule XXVI of S.L. 433.03
  8. Once the inspection yields satisfactory results, the inspector issues a Phytosanitary Certificate.

  • Tax Registration Number (TRN)
  • Commercial invoice
  • Sales Contract
  • Packing list
  • Commodity or scientific name of the commodity;
  • Net and gross weight of consignment.

Validity

The Certificate is valid per shipment or consignment. A new shipment requires a new Phytosanitary Certificate
