Mali - Request for Certificate of Indigence


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. Applicant should visit the general secretariat of the town hall near your residential place and express your interest at the front desk.
  2. Submit the stamped request address to the mayor of the town to be verified and recorded by the town hall agent, who will then issue you with a receipt indicating the date of withdrawal of the response to the request.
  3. The application file will then be transmitted to the office of the mayor's private secretary office. The mayor then sends the file to his deputy in charge of social issues, who after examination sends it to the Department of Social Development and Solidarity Economy for investigation and opinion.
  4. You will then be contacted by the social security service agency whose responsibility is to investigate the request, which is usually administers a questionnaire to the applicant or visiting the applicant residence to ascertain the indigence claim and write a report on the findings.
  5. The social service agent will then returns the results of the investigation to the mayor for a final decision.
  6. The mayor will then further assess the file and the investigation report and then decide if to approval the request or deny it.
  7. If the mayor approve the request, he will notify the deputy in charge of social issues, who in turn draw up the certificate and send it to the secretary general of the town hall who submits it for the mayor's signature.
  8. The signed document is recorded and returned to the general secretariat office where it is made available to be issued to the applicant, upon presenting his/her NIC and registration receipt to be validated by the registrar.
