1. To exchange a foreign driver's license into a Malawi driver's license, applicants will need to submit a completed application to the Road Traffic Directorate Office.
2. Applicants will need to present or submit the following documents:
   1. Foreign driver's license
   2. Valid proof of identity (passport, identity card) and/or title to stay in the case of foreign nationals
   3. Two passport photos (32 x 25 mm)
   4. A certificate of authentication of the permit by the authorities of the countries
3. After submitting all the requirements, pay the application fee.

• Applicant must be of minimum age for the vehicle category and/or permit applied for.
• Not disqualified from obtaining or holding any learner licence, driving licence, international driving permit or professional driving permit
• No learner licence, driving licence, international driving permit or professional driving permit held by me within the past three years has been suspended or cancelled.
• Do not suffer from any of the following diseases or disabilities:
  • Uncontrolled epilepsy;
  • Sudden attacks of disabling giddiness or fainting due to hypertension or any other disease;
  • Any form of mental illness to such a degree that it is necessary for the applicant to be detained, supervised, controlled and treated as a patient in terms of the mental health legislation;
  • Any condition causing muscular incoordination;
  • Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus; and
  • Any other disease or disability which is likely to render the applicant incapable of effectively driving and controlling a motor vehicle of the class applied for in traffic without endangering public safety.
• Not addicted to the use of any drug, having a narcotic effect or the excessive use of intoxicating liquor.
• Applicant must meet the minimum vision requirements prescribed in regulation 7 for the vehicle category applied for and do not suffer from defective vision when using: NO corrective lenses / CORRECTIVE LENSES
• Applicant must not be suffering from any medical condition that disqualifies him/her from holding a driving licence in terms of the

provisions of the Road Traffic Act and regulations and for purposes of driving a motor vehicle

• EB(18years): Light articulated motor vehicle
