Residents of Maharashtra, can transfer the ownership of an existing water connection through the following procedure.
Apply In-Person:

1. Visit the concerned Municipal Corporation office in your area.
2. To view the Municipality office locations, select your district and from the district portal, select Directory > Public Utility > Municipalities Districts
3. Procure the prescribed application form for name change request by paying the required application form fee.
4. Fill all the required details of the form.
5. Attach the photocopy of all the required documents.
6. Submit application form along with photocopy of all the required documents to the concerned authority.
7. The authorities will check if all the necessary documents have been submitted and will ask the applicant to pay the processing fee.
8. Pay the required processing fee and register your service.
9. Receive the acknowledgement receipt or get the photocopy of the form counter signed for further reference.
10. Site verifications will be made by the authority officers if required.
11. After this verification, your request will be further processed by the authorities and the necessary changes will be made in the computer records within the next billing cycle.

• Affidavit in the stamp paper of required value
• NOC from Property Tax Department
• Address proof and Id proof of the applicant from the following:
• Aadhaar card

• A water bill is one of the utility bills which could be used as address proof for banks, passports, etc.
• The water bill will always bear the previous owner’s name until it is changed to a new ownership. For this reason, it is always advisable to change the ownership of water connection when purchasing a new property or after legal succession.

• The new consumer might be asked to change the water meter if it is not in working condition.
• One has to pay the monthly dues regularly. Reconnection charges might be levied on the consumer if the connection was disconnected due to pending dues.
