Maharashtra - Obtain a Caste Certificate


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. In order to apply for caste certificate, applicant has to go to the respective Sub-Divisional Officer/Dy. Collector.
  2. Link for the office contact details: Link AND Link please select the district as per the map to reach next page. In the given page please select menu option “ABOUT THE DISTRICT” > “Who’s (Whose) who” to get contact details.
  3. Application form can be obtained from the office while applicant visits. OR Applicant shall write an application on a A4 paper. OR Download the application form using the following link : Form Link
  4. Submit the completed application form along with required documents to the respective authority.
  5. Authorities after checking the attached documents and details submitted, will make entries and provide you record number for reference.
  6. This document and details will then reach thasildhar.
  7. Thasildhar will ask his authorities to do investigation and do ground level verification for the details submitted.
  8. After due verification authorities will submit their report to thasildhar.
  9. Based on the report submitted, Thasildhar will decide to issue the caste certificate.
Note :
  • Certificate will be despatched or handed over directly as per the request made while applying by applicant. Mostly handover in office will be in practice to get counter signature from applicant for the delivered certificate.
  • In case of any specialised classes, that covers government subsidy and reservation, a notice will be propagated in the applicants residing area to see if there is any objection for the applicant arises.



Apply through Aplesarkar - Maharashtra Obtain a Caste Certificate Online with Images

  1. Use the following link to reach online portal. Link: link
  2. click on “citizen login” to login or use “New user? register here…” option to create new user account. Once it is created, log in using username and password.
  3. In the given page after login, search for “Revenue department” and click on it. Then click on “caste Certificate” to reach respective page.
  4. Then fill necessary information required for application, then uploading required document.
  5. Follow the screen prompt to apply online.
  6. User will get an acknowledgement. Keep it safe for future reference.
  7. Applicant will get certificate upon notification.



Apply Through Mobile App

  1. To Obtain a Caste certificate, the applicant can make the application via RTS Maharashtra app link
  2. After installing the app, click on “Getting Started” and “select language” to start the application.
  3. Then the applicant has to click the “Revenue” menu and select “Caste Certificate” and read the instruction and click “Apply”.
  4. Next the applicant has to enter the user ID and password and click “Login Now. If the applicant doesn’t have an account the applicant can click on “Register Now” and register an account.
  5. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  6. Make sure that the applicant has to upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. Review the application and click “Submit”
  8. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be displayed. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
  10. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. The applicant can check the status of the application by clicking on “Track” menu by entering the department and application ID.



Apply Through CSC centre

  1. To Obtain a Caste Certificate, the applicant has to approach nearby Common Service Center (CSC) Link
    • Note: The applicant has to select their state, district and block from the drop-down menu or the applicant can click on their respective district to find nearby center.
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. Or the applicant has to provide their details to the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form.
  4. The applicant has to attach or provide the required documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page (If required).
  5. Submit the completed application, document and applicable fees to the centre staff.
  6. Application submitted will be processed and receipt with application number will be issued.
  7. The applicant is informed through SMS at various stages i.e., Advance intimation about date of visit of the official to his place of residence for verification of his application, Approval/Rejection of his application.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must belong to reserved category (Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Other backward Community) to apply for that category.
  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen.
  • Applicant must be residing in the state.
  • Applicant should have completed age of 3 years to apply for community certificate.
Note : Please check all eligibility criteria, check-list of documents required to apply for community certificate.

Validity

Need for the Document

  • Community Certificate is also known as caste certificate. Community certificate is a legal proof of community that the person to whom it is being issued belongs to reserved community like scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and other backward classes.
  • Caste certificate is an important certificate to avail certain benefits provided by Government for the socially backward communities in education and employment opportunities for their betterment.
  • Students especially require the caste certificates to secure their seat in institution
  • This is valid for securing admission in all Educational Institutions and other professional institutions and also for employment.

  • This certificate can be used for several years.
  • An individual cannot change his / her caste once he/she issued the caste certificate. However, while converting into another religion, the class may change necessitating a new caste/community certificate.
NOTE : It is a punishable offense to try with fraudulent documents to get a community certificate
