Through offline
- In view of providing easy access and direct interaction with the assessee, the income tax department announces about the special camps organized for the collection/filing of income tax.
- The assessee shall use these opportunities and visit the nearby camp organized. Please get the documents in original along with copies as per the details provided under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Please meet the respective authority and follow their guidelines. Please provide them the documents as per requirement to pay for the income tax.
- The department authorities will issue an acknowledgement slip for the payment. Please keep it safe for future reference.
- The assessee shall keep track of their Aadhaar enabled/registered mobile number for department notification.
Pay Through Online
- Please use the following link to reach the online portal to pay income tax online link
- In the given page, please click on the “Proceed” button under the “CHALLAN NO./ITNS 280” section to reach the “Challan No./ITNS 280” page.
- Here, please click on the checkbox for “(0021) Income Tax (Other than Companies)” option under the “Tax Applicable” section. Also, please click on the checkbox for “(300) Self Assessment Tax” option under the “Type of Payment” section.
- Now, please click on the checkbox for “Net-Banking” option under the “Mode Of Payment” section and please select the bank from the dropdown list for “Bank Name”.
- Please complete the other page prompts as appropriate. Make sure to select the appropriate period for “Assessment Year“ option from the dropdown list.
- Once the mandatory details are filled in, please enter the captcha as appropriate and then click on the “Proceed” button to reach a new page with details.
- Please go through the details provided. If the details provided on the page are correct, then please click on the checkbox for the declaration and then click on the “Submit to the Bank” button to get redirected to the bank page to make online payment.
- Please process the online payment as applicable. Once the payment is paid, the applicant will be provided with a system generated acknowledgement.
- Please save or print it using the applicable option as per requirement for future reference.
Pay Through Bank
- The assessee shall pay the income tax through bank. Please visit your bank branch.
- Please obtain the applicable tax payment challan form (Challan 280).
- Please use the following link to download the challan 280 form Link
- Please complete the form with mandatory details and submit it to the respective counter along with the cheque or cash (the bank may be reluctant to accept large cash payments).
- The counter staff will process the payment electronically using the computer. The assessee shall follow the guidelines of the authority to complete the payment. The applicants are advised to take the income tax assessment sheet, PAN card and Aadhaar card in original for cross verification as per requirement.
- Once the payment processing is done successfully, the authority will provide the counterfoil of the challan stamped as acknowledgement. This is the proof of payment made.
- Please keep it safe for future reference. The payment gets reflects in the form 26AS within 10 days or as per the timeline provided by the bank authorities.
- The assessee shall keep track of their Aadhaar enabled/registered mobile number for department notification.

Eligibility
- The applicant should be a citizen of India.
- Those who are 18 years above and below 60 years are liable to pay income tax if their income exceeds 2.5 lakhs.
- The business entities are liable to pay income tax.
- The assessee is liable to pay advance tax if their estimated income meets the criteria as stated in the current income tax law.
Fees
- This procedure doesn’t attract any fees.
- The assessee is liable to pay any late pay charges or penalty for not paying on time.
- While making payment through bank for the income tax, the payment can be made through cash/cheque. In case the payment is made via cheque, make the cheque in favour of “Income Tax Department”.
Validity
- Income tax is paid every month from the monthly earnings, it is calculated on an annual basis.
- The income tax paid is valid for the income earned during the previous financial year.

Instructions
- Please use a separate challan for each type of payment.
- Please note that quoting Permanent Account Number (PAN) is mandatory.
- Please note that quoting false PAN may attract a penalty of Rs. 10,000/- .
- Kindly ensure that the bank’s acknowledgement contains the following:
- 7 Digit BSR code of the bank branch
- Date of deposit of challan (dd mm yy)
- Challan serial number
- The above-mentioned details need to be quoted in the return of income.
- The applicant shall provide their signature or thumb impression on the application form.
- Incomplete application will be rejected.
- Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.

Need for the Document
- An assessee has to pay the income tax levied by the government on the income generated from different sources.
- The income tax is one of the major source of income for the government to carry out various welfare schemes to the public.
- Tax evasion (hiding or false income or not reporting cash transaction etc.) by an individual or by a company is an illegal action and comes under criminal charges and substantial penalties.
- It is the every assessor’s responsibility to pay the tax without fail.
- The income tax (Advance tax Or Self-assessment tax)paid by an assessee can take up to 10 days to reflect in form 26AS.
