Maharashtra - Change Name of Village


Procedure

Apply In Person

  1. To change name of the village in India, the applicant shall visit the Department of Home Affairs of their respective state. The Location details of the head office can be found in the following Link.
  2. Visit the Office and get the application form to change the name of the village from the relevant department or the applicant can also write the request on the plain A4 Sheet.
  3. Please fill the application form with essential information and details and it should be attested with the applicant’s signature and signature of at least 20 people residing in the village (more than a period of 10-20 years).
  4. Please attach all the documents that are listed in “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Then, it should be submitted to the relevant authority by the elected public representatives of the respective area.
  6. Also representative should pay the required fees for the application process at the office as directed by the officials. Please collect the acknowledgement slip for the paid fee. Keep it safe for future reference.
  7. The application and attached documents will be sent for verification to check, if there is any discrepancy.
  8. The officials will inform the initiation process by any applicable means, once the government approves the request.
  9. After all the processes are completed, concerned officials will approve the request and proceed with changing the name of the village.
