To provide financial support to the poor widows of India, the widow pension scheme was introduced in India. A widow whose household is below the poverty line is eligible to get the benefits of pension scheme.
Apply In-Person

1. To apply, the applicant shall visit the office of the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department. Find contacts hereLink
2. Procure an application form from the local Tehsildar office and fill it up correctly.
3. Fill up the form correctly with all the necessary details
4. Make sure to provide all the “Required Documents”
5. Now submit it to the concerned office.
6. On completion, the documents will be verified
7. On successful verification, the pension will be granted
8. Collect it from the office of the Tehsildar.

Documents Required for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

• Death Certificate of Husband
• BPL Status Certificate (verifiable through Ration card)
• Aadhaar Card
•  Any of the following documents, namely:
  • Voters’ ID Card issued by Election Commission of India
  • Ration Card
  • Bank Passbook with Photo (Kisan Photo Passbook also valid)
  • PAN Card issued by Income Tax Department
  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • MGNREGA Card

Eligibility to apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

• The applicant must be from BPL category (with a valid BPL id)
• The applicant must be a widow.
• A widow in age group of 40 to 65 years whose family falls under Below Poverty Line is eligible under this Scheme.

• As authorities quote.

• It is valid forever.
