Macedonia - Change Your Name (Deed Poll)


Procedure

An application shall be accompanied by the following evidence:

  • Proof of the identity of the applicant (identity card or passport);
  • Payment for duly charged an administrative fee in the amount of 300.00 denars;
  • Consent of the minor child in a revision of the personal name if it has filled 10 years;
  • Neat proxy the request for change of first name is submitted by an attorney;
  • If the request for change of first name refers to a minor application is submitted by both parents, except in case of the absence or inability of one parent, that can be attached statement notarized or diplomatic and consular offices of the Republic Macedonia abroad.

Request for change of first name with the necessary documentation submitted to the Ministry of Interior.

Ministry of Interior shall make a decision to change personal name within 30 days of receipt of the request for change personal name. Minister of the Interior shall pass regulations for the form and content of the application.

If the Ministry of Interior has not issued a decision change the first name that is not a decision to refuse the application the issuance of the decision to change the first name, the applicant has the right within three working days expiration of the term to apply to the archives of the Minister of Interior to take a decision by the Minister for Interior.




Required Documents

  • A copy of the registry of births in order to provide accurate data that compare the records of identification number of the applicant (ex officio).
  • Certificate or notification by the competent court that the applicant is not under criminal investigation for a criminal offense prosecuted ex officio.
  • Certificate or notification by the competent social work center that the applicant has regulated property and other legal obligations arising from the marital relationship and the relationship of parents and children to people who live in the Republic of Macedonia (ex officio).

Eligibility

Citizens have the right to change the name, or the name only or surname.

The minor will change the name, or the name only or last request of the parents or adoptive parents, or the guardian with the consent of the competent authority to custody.

If you are looking to change the personal name of a child who has reached 10 years life is also required his consent.

Request for change of first name is submitted to the office desk or in the local unit of the Ministry of Interior under residence of the applicant.



Required Information

  • Your name as listed on birth certificate or immigration or citizenship documents.
  • The full name you are applying to change to (if you are changing your name).
  • Date and place of birth
  • Marital status and details
  • Places of residence for last three months
  • Address for Correspondence

If you are using, or wish to use, a name other than your registered name, there is no legal requirement that you formally change your name. It is, however, recommended that you change your name officially, both for identification and as evidence of your name change.

Name change generally refers to the legal act by a person of adopting a name different from their name at birth, marriage or adoption. The procedures and ease of a name change vary between jurisdictions.

Changing your name after marriage or divorce is quite a simple process, while changing your name 'just because' requires a little more effort, but it is still quite straight forward and a lot easier than it used to be.
