Apply In-Person

1. Applicants should visit the Ministry of Mining and Geology office and express their interest at the service desk.
2. Collect the application form for mining lease or click the link below to download itLink (Mining lease Application form)
3. Submit the completed form along with the supporting documents (listed below) to the attending office.
4. All application files will then be verified and processed by the mining board that meet once a month to assess all the files and the decision made after 2 sittings.
5. You will be notified of the outcome by phone or mail within 2 months, if approved you should re-visit the ministry office at the register deed office and claim the license, a copy of the license will be retained by the ministry for filling purposes.

• Valid Environmental clearance certificate
• Valid Police clearance certificate
• Any other document that may be requested by the ministry.

• Prospecting licences is an official document that allow prospectors and small-scale miners to explore or mine in an area less than five hectares in Lesotho.
