Lesotho - Apply for a Food-Handler Certificate

How to Apply

  1. Applicants should visit the Queen Elizabeth 2 Hospital, public health office and express their interest.
  2. Collect the application request form, a senior health assistant will then help you to fill the microbiology request form.
  3. You will then be required to draw stool stamp and a nurses will then draw blood sample at the Queen’s 2 main laboratory for test analysis.
  4. After submitting the blood/stool sample to the lab, visit the senior health assistant office and have your information captured to the computer system.
  5. Pay the medical examination fee at the cash counter, upon which you will be issued with a receipt.
  6. Collect the test results written on the microbiology request form at the lab after 2 o'clock and take it to the public health office to senior health assistant.
  7. The senior health assistant will then fill the food handler certificate and stamp it. You will then take the filled certificate to the doctor, who will determine if the applicant is fit or not.
  8. If the doctor finds you unfit to handle food, he/she will be given medication to take for 7 days and thereafter come back again to the hospital to be tested again.
  9. If your found fit to handle food, the doctor will tick on the certificate approving that you are fit to handle food and then sign/stamp the card/certificate and issue it to you.
