Renew a 2003 type (new) passport:

• Through LIBANPOST

You may submit your passport renewal applications to the offices of LIBANPOST. Submit the form along with all required documents needed in the process.

• If you are currently staying outside Lebanon, you may renew your passport at an accredited Lebanese diplomatic delegations in the country you are currently in.

(As of 18 October 2018 (date of checking), passport renewal can only be done through the general security, LIBANPOST cannot renew your passport for you. For more information, call general security at 1717)

Renew your old type passport (issued before 2003):

• In Lebanon, The passports issued before the year 2003 cannot be renewed; therefore an application to obtain the new passport should be presented.
• If you are currently staying outside Lebanon, you may renew your passport at an accredited Lebanese diplomatic delegations in the country you are currently in.

• Completed application form
• The Passport to be renewed.
• The new Lebanese Identification Card with photograph, as well as a photocopy of it on a paper size A4, or an extract of Civil Registration with a photograph not older than three months and a photocopy of it on a paper size A4.

Additional documents that must be presented to renew a family passport or a minors passport:

• A family civil registration extract, not older than three months, and a copy of it of size A4.
• A travel permit (by means of a separate document) size A4 certified by the competent personnel at the General Security or by the Justice of the peace or commissioner of declarations.

• Passport valid for 5 years: 300,000 L.L.
• Passport valid for 10 years: 500,000 L.L.

A passport is a document, issued by the national government. It certifies the identity and nationality of the holder for travel abroad. It contains information about the holder; like name, gender, date and place of birth.

This document does not in itself entitle the passport holder entry into another country, nor consular protection while abroad nor any other privileges. However, it does normally allows the passport holder to return to the country where the passport was issued.

Rights to consular protection arises from international treaties, while the holder's return to the issuing country depends on the laws prevailing in that country.
