Approval of Invitation Procedure:
Residence Permit Registration
1.) Required documents for registration of a valid residence permit shall be submitted personally to any regional office of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs 30 to 90 days prior to the date of expiry of the registration of a temporary residence permit and not later than 30 days prior to the date of expiry of registration of a permanent residence permit.
A citizen or a family member of a citizen of a Member State of the European Union or theEuropean Economic Zone, or the Switzerland Confederation does not need to register his or her residence permits.
2.) A call approved by the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs is required for registration of a residence permit. A call is not required if a foreigner has received a temporary residence permit according to the Immigration Act Section 23, Part 1, Paragraph 2, 4, 7, or 8, or wishes to register a permanent residence permit.

3.) Any decision regarding the registration of the residence permit will be made after examination of the documents submitted, interview and verification of other data.

A residence permit are issued to foreigners in Latvia giving them rights to reside in the Republic of Latvia for a definite period of time (a temporary residence permit) or permanently (a permanent residence permit).
You will need this document if you would like to stay in the Republic of Latvia for a period of time exceeding 90 days within half a year counting from the first day of your arrival in Latvia.
