Following are the ways through which Child Birth Benefits can be applied:

In-Person

1. The applicant can approach one of the State Social Insurance Agency (SSIA) offices where an application can be made.

1. When applying through post the applicant should complete the application form that can be found under the following link : More Info & Application Form

Electronically

An electronic application can be made through the State Regional Development Agency Portal : Portal Link

• Completed appropriate application form
• A copy of the document on registration of the birth fact of the child issued by a competent institution of the foreign country must be submitted together with the application and the original thereof must be presented (when applying for the benefit by post a notarized copy of this document must be annexed to the application) if child born in foreign country.

Following listed are the people who will be able apply for Child Birth Benefits : citizens, non-citizens of Latvia, foreigners, and stateless persons living in Latvia who have received a personal identification code.

Note : The benefit is not granted to persons who have received a temporary residence permit.

Also Granted Too:

• One of the parents for each child who has reached the age of 8 days and who has received the personal identification code.
• Guardian if the child has been taken under guardianship until the age of one year.

The decision on granting the benefit will be taken within ten days after the VSAA office has received all documents that are necessary for granting the benefit.
