Kuwait - Obtain Death Certificate

Central Record for Birth and Death Department - In Person

  1. A death certificate may be obtained from the Central Record for Birth and Death Department or any of the pertaining centers according to the location of death.
  2. Submit your request together with other required documents (see list below).

You may use the link provided under "Office Locations & Contacts" to get in touch with the nearest Kuwait Embassy in the country you are currently staying. They may be able to help you submit your request to obtain a death certificate.





Required Documents

  • Original civil ID of the deceased and a copy, if the deceased was a Kuwaiti citizen and death was of natural causes
  • Applicant's birth certificate to prove that the deceased was his/her mother, if the deceased mother was a Kuwaiti citizen, the applicant was her son or daughter, and death was of natural causes
  • Applicant's marriage contract to prove that the deceased was his wife, if the deceased wife was a Kuwaiti citizen, and death was of natural causes
  • Original civil ID of the deceased and a copy and a copy of the passport, if the deceased was a resident and death was of natural causes
  • Letter from the embassy authorizing one person to issue the death certificate, if the deceased was a resident, had no relatives in the State of Kuwait, and death was of natural causes
  • Letter from the Central Record for Birth and Death Department to the Executive Committee for the Foreign Affairs of Illegal Residents stating the nationality of the deceased, if the deceased was a resident whose nationality was undefined and death was of natural causes
  • Death announcement from the coroner, if death was not of natural causes
