1. To Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, the applicant has to approach local police authorities – link
2. The applicant has to visit the office with the request letter.
3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
7. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
8. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
10. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
11. Then the application will be processed further. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
12. The applicant has to visit the office to get the clearance certificate.
13. The original Police Clearance Certificate will be delivered within 20 working days. (The processing time will increase if a person was ever charged by the police).

A police clearance certificate is a copy of your criminal record or a declaration of the absence of any criminal record. Police clearance certificates are different in each country and territory and may be called police certificates, good conduct certificates, judicial record extracts, pcc, etc. They are issued by police authorities or government departments and used by Citizenship and Immigration to prevent individuals who possess a risk to Country's security from entering the country.

• Each individual has the right to contact any police station for the purpose of ordering a certificate regarding his or her criminal record, which will be sent according to the law, directly to foreign missions in Kiribati, to Kiribati missions abroad or to international adoption agencies, depending on the available data.
• Applicants should obtain a Police Clearance Certificate (CR Form 16) from local police authorities.

• Your full name as on your birth certificate including your maiden name if applicable
• Your date and place of birth (or a copy of your birth certificate)
• Your current address
• All addresses at which you have lived at in Kiribati and when you lived there
• The place and purpose for which you require the Certificate

You should also include with your application:

• A copy of your passport, driving license or similar for identification purposes
• A stamped, self addressed envelope

You can only get a Police Certificate in certain circumstances. They are issued when required by consular authorities. For example, Police Certificates are often required before you can apply for a visa to visit or travel to other countries. They are not issued for employment or any other purpose. However, they can be issued for the setting up or registering a business in another country.
