Procedure
Apply via Agent
- Renewal applications for a Private Funeral Home Institution Licence are done online.
- Renewal applications should be done at least one week before the expiry date of the current license.
Apply Online
- A licensed Private Funeral Home Institution can make an application to renew Private Funeral Home Institution Licence online by visiting the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council’s Online Services Portal through the following link: KMPDC Online Services Portal
- Upon entering your accounts’ homepage, click on the “Apply for License” tab in the menu on the left pane to enter the next page.
- Please click on the “Renewal ” option to make your renewal application.
- On the renewal page, click on the “Click here to Renew Annual License for 20xx” button to enter the next page.
- Please provide your valid details of the health practitioners employed in your facility. This is done by clicking on the red “Download Template” link to download the medical personnel list template. Fill in the details of the health practitioners employed by your facility in the form then upload the file back to the account and click on the “Save & Continue” button.
- This will cause an invoice for payment of the licensing fees to be generated.
- On the MPDC Invoice page “Click to Pay Now” blue tab to pay for the Health Facility Licence
- Proceed to make the payment using the instructions given online. More information about the fees to be paid is given in the “Fee” section of this page
- Upon making the renewal payment, a payment receipt and the renewed Private Funeral Home Institution Licence will be generated online.
- Note: Wait for approximately 10 minutes then refresh the invoice page. After refreshing the page, you should find receipt and license ready to be printed.
- Click on the “Download Receipt “ button and the “Download License” button to download the payment receipt and the renewed Private Funeral Home Institution Licence respectively.
- Print the receipt and license and keep the for reference.

- Identity Card / Passport
- Company or Business Registration Certificate
- Certified copies of Professional Certificates of all Health Professionals working therein including licenses from their respective Regulatory Authorities.
- Registration Certificate of Private Funeral Home Institution.
- List of medical practitioners working for the institution.

Eligibility
- Private Funeral Home Institutions licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council, are eligible to apply for a renewed Private Health Institution license.

- Name and address of the funeral home Institution
- Company/business registration certificate no
- Location
- Location of branches (if any)
- Full names and address of the applicant
- State business owner(s) (if business name) or directors (if a company) of the applicant/funeral home and their current addresses and telephone contacts
- State the administrator or the chief executive officer of the institution/funeral home and the contacts
- Nationality of the directors of the applicant/funeral home
- Kenya national identity card no./passport no. For the directors/owner(s) of the applicant/funeral home
- Work permit for the directors/owner(s) of the applicant/funeral home(if applicable)
- Give full names of the Pathologist who shall be in-charge of post-mortem at the Funeral Home.
- Give full details of professional qualifications of the professional named at paragraph above. Include year and place were obtained.
- State work experience of the person named above and name institutions where obtained and date.
- Give full names and professional qualifications of any other person (s), identified by your institution, to undertake care at the institution, Laboratory Technicians, Technicians etc.)
Need for the Document
- A private funeral home institution needs to be registered with the Kenya medical practitioners and dentist council in order to be licensed to carry out its operation in Kenya.
- The licensing process ensures that the private funeral home institution meet the required standards to provide quality health care.
- One needs to have a valid license at all times.
- The license issued is to be displayed in a conspicuous place at the health institution to which the license relates.
