Yellow Fever is preventable by a safe, effective vaccine. Yellow fever vaccination is one of the mandatory requirements when travelling to some parts of the world. International regulations require proof of Yellow Fever vaccination for travel to and from countries which are classified as yellow fever endemic. One is issued with a yellow fever certificate after receiving the yellow fever vaccinations.

  1. One needs to get the vaccination a minimum of 10 days before travel; otherwise you will be refused boarding. This is because the vaccination needs to mature.
  2. You can get the vaccination from any Ministry of Health Port Public Health Offices at border entry points, sea ports and airports. A fee of Khs 2500 is charge for the vaccine
  3. If you are in Nairobi you can go to City Hall to get the vaccine shot. One can contact them in advance to make an appointment or just walk in. A fee of Khs 2500 is charge for the vaccine.
  4. One can get the vaccination at approved Private Hospitals as well as in hospitals and clinics run by the county governments; the cost of the vaccine may vary between the private hospitals and county clinics. Private hospitals charge almost twice the cost offered in public clinics and hospitals.
