Applying from Health facilities
- Visit your nearest Government Health Facility in the County you are in to make the application for a medical certificate of good health.
- Here you will be undergo a series of tests before being issued a certificate of good health in Kenya.
- You are supposed to pay the prescribed fee of Ksh. 700 before the examinations.
- The following tests are carried during the examinations.
- (i). Eye test
- (ii). Hearing test
- (iii). Inspecting for a contagious bacterial/ viral infection in the blood and stool.
- Once adequately convinced that the individual has a clean bill of health in Kenya, he is issued with the certificate of good health.
Applying from county council offices
- Visit the County Council Offices or City Hall in Nairobi to obtain a medical certificate of good health.
- Here you will be directed to the heath offices to undergo a series of tests before being issued a certificate of good health in Kenya.
- You are supposed to pay the prescribed fee of Ksh. 700 before the examinations.
- The following tests are carried during the examinations.
- (i). Eye test
- (ii). Hearing test
- (iii). Inspecting for a contagious bacterial/ viral infection in the blood and stool .
- Once adequately convinced that the individual has a clean bill of health in Kenya, he is issued with the certificate of good health.

Need for the Document
- A Certificate of Good Health is a statement from a physician or other health care provider that attests to the result of a medical examination of a person.
- It serves as documentation that a person is fit or evidence of no health condition.
- A certificate of good medical standing in Kenya is deemed necessary to ensure one will not pose any health risks to others in their line of service.
- Doctors are the ones that write certificate of good health at the request of patients.
- Indiviusals seek for such letters for various reasons. Among the main reasons why patients request such letters are for example paperwork to obtain a drivers license, for reasons of travel, this could also be a prerequisite to entering a new job, requirements for their wedding, custody of minors, among many others.
Other uses of the Document/Certificate
- You might be required to have a Physical Exam (check-up) or to present a 'Certificate of Good Health' when applying for a visa.
