Apply In Person

1. To obtain a permit to transport meat, applicants are required to submit their request to the City-County Veterinary Services Office. of Agriculture Livestock Fisheries and Cooperatives
2. Applicants should express their interest to the licensing officer, who shall then cause an inspection to be conducted on the carrier or container that is to be used for the transportation of the meat.
3. Where the inspector is satisfied that thecarrier or container to be used complies with the standard as set by the Ministry,the inspecting officer shall issue a permit to the applicant upon making payment of the permit fee of Ksh 200.00.
4. If any modification or upgrading is required, the inspector shall point them out and the applicant will be required to rectify the problem before re-submitting his/her request.
5. The inspector shall then conduct a re-inspection on the carrier or container to ascertain the effectiveness of the implementation (where applicable).
6. The processing time accumulatively is within a day.
7. Once issued a Meat Transport permit shall be valid for one year from the date issued.

• Individuals/businesses that wish to transport large quantities of meat products for the purpose of trade are eligible to apply.

• Ksh 200.00 For issuance of the meat transport permit

• The license is valid for one (01) year unless revoked, suspended, or cancelled by the Authority.
• The license should be renewed at least one (01) week before the expiration of the current license.

• In addition to the Meat Transport Permit, no person shall transport, cause or suffer any meat to be transported unless such person holds a certificate of meat transport.

• No person shall transport, cause or suffer any meat to be transported unless such person holds a permit to transport meat issued by the Directorate of Veterinary Services (DVS).
