Kenya - Apply for Phytosanitary Certificate


Procedure

Apply online

  1. To apply for a Phytosanitary Certificate, Applicant shall obtain a Unique Consignment Reference (UCR):Link
  2. On obtaining the UCR, applicant shall register on the Electronic Certification System to apply for the phytosanitary certificate.
  3. To apply for phytosanitary certificate please visit the following link: link
  4. In the given page, select “Apply for client registration” option
  5. Please fill in your details as required and click on “save’’ to complete the registration process.
  6. Come back to the log in page and login with your credentials.
  7. Once login fill up your details as required and click on “save”
  8. The system will process your request for inspection and certification.
  9. After the request is approved, the inspector inspects consignment destined for export and prepares an inspection result.
  10. The Applicant has to pay the prescribed fee online after the inspection on the following link:Link
  11. The inspector reviews the inspection result. Once the inspection yields satisfactory results, inspector issues a phytosanitary certificate.
  12. Applicant has to collect the phytosanitary certificate from the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) Plant Inspection Unit (JKIA)

Fees

  • KES 1,000 for issuance of a phytosanitary certificate for dry produce
  • KES 500 for issuance of a phytosanitary certificate for fresh produce




Validity

  • The Certificate is valid per shipment or consignment. A new shipment requires a new Phytosanitary Certificate
