Kenya - Apply for Industrial Attachment


Procedure

Apply Online

  1. Visit the National Industrial Training Authority website and click on the Our Services tab on the upper pane and click on the Industrial Attachment link.
  2. This will navigate you to the industrial attchement page where you are to click on the ITAP- Industrial Training Attachment Portal where you will be able to make your application for industrial attachment.
  3. Click on the create account icon. This will navigate you to a user registration page where you are supposed to fill in your personal details.
  4. Fill in your personal details which include; user type (student), name, Id number, email address, phone address, user name and password. Enter the verification code provided then click register for submission.
  5. Log into your email address and click on the verification link so as to activate your ITAP-Account. Enter the verification code that you have been provided then click submit so as to verify your account.
  6. Log into your ITAP account using the username and password that you registered with and click on “Edit Profile” so as to complete creating your user profile.
  7. Fill in your all the required information which include;
    • date of birth
    • Gender
    • Learning institution
    • Study level
    • Admission number
    • Skill area
    • Disability status
    then click submit.
  8. Click on "application preferences", and select the quarter which you want to have your industrial attachment and three preferred towns where you would like to take your industrial attachment (in order of preference) then click on submit.
  9. After submission wait for the Attachment Liaison Officer (ALO) who is based in your institution of study to verify your eligibility as a student for industrial attachment.
  10. If you qualify for industrial attachment NITA officials will then take up the role of placing you to the Industries/Companies which have declared slots available, for work place training.
  11. You can log in your ITAP account to check on your industrial application status
  12. Notification of your industrial attachment placement will be communicated through your ITAP account and the Attachment Liaison Officer (ALO) who is based in your institution of study.

  • Students and lecturers in tertiary institutions undergoing training, who wish to gain real work experience and its challenges in their relevant industrial sectors
  • At least 2 years of institutional training
  • Insurance cover for student

  • ITAP - Industrial Training Attachment Portal is a web portal designed to link students to the Industry through NITA (National Industrial Training Authority).
  • As a student you only require to fill an application form online, then wait for the Attachment Liasion Officer (ALO) who is based in their institution of study to verify your eligibility as a student.
  • NITA officials then take up the role of placing the students/lectures to the Industries/Companies which have declared slots available, for work place training.

Need for the Document

  • The Attachment programme enables students to experience real work and its challenges in their relevant industrial sectors. It is a transition from knowledge to a productivity in a work environment. Students develop work place competencies.
  • The programme also enables employers to identify suitable candidates for future employment opportunities.

  • The National Industrial Training Authority attaches over 15000 trainees every year. The Industrial Attachment programme is a product of broad based consultations among several stakeholders in industry.
  • It is a practical bridge between theoretical knowledge gained from learning institutions and the practical skills required for day to day operations of industries. NITA coordinates industrial attachment as an intervention to strengthen industrial training. The programme was initiated by the National Industrial Training Board as a strategic intervention to strengthen industrial training since 2004.
