Karnataka - Raise request for Shifting Electric Transformer


Procedure

This procedure explains various ways to raise a request for the shifting of the electric transformer.

Apply Online:

  1. You can raise a request for the shift of the electric transformer on the official BESCOM .Website Address
  2. You have to select the “Register Online Complaint” option from the “Online Services” menu on the main page of the website.
  3. It will take you to the complaint registration page.
  4. If you are a new consumer then you should enter your “Mobile Number” and confirm with the One Time Password for the first time registration.
  5. If you have already registered, then you have to enter your “Mobile Number” and “Category and Sub Category of the Complaint”.
  6. After filling in the details, you have to submit by selecting the “click to register a complaint”.
  7. You will receive the “Complaint Number” to your registered mobile number.
  8. You have to save the Complaint Number for future verification and reference purposes.
  9. The shifting process will be carried on by the authorities at the desired time.


Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply In-Person, you should visit the allocated EB office for your location. You can find the office location and contact details on the “BESCOM” website. Location and Contacts
  2. While applying In-Person, the consumer should obtain the application form from the authorities in the office.
  3. Fill out the application form and submit it along with the required documents.
  4. Make sure you have all the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section.
  5. You can also write a request letter with the proper reason for shifting the electric transformer and attach it with the Application Form.
  6. You can submit them to the officials such as JUNIOR ENGINEER (JE), ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE ENGINEER (AEE), CHIEF ENGINEER (CE), SUPERINTENDING ENGINEER (SE), or EXECUTIVE ENGINEER (EE) in your local Electricity Board office.
  7. The authorities will go through the application and provide an estimate of the amount to be paid to the Electricity Board.
  8. The estimated amount has to be paid in the Demand Draft (DD).
  9. After submitting the form, they will provide you the “Complaint Number” and the payment slip for the same.
  10. You have to keep those details safe for future verification and reference purposes.


Apply through 24/7 Services: To raise a request for the shifting of the electric transformer, there are two ways of 24/7 Customer Services included by the Karnataka Electricity Board, namely:

  1. 24/7 Helpline services
  2. 24/7 SMS Facility



24/7 Helpline services:

  1. You can use the 24/7 helpline number “1912” to register your request/complaint.
  2. After getting the details of the complaint, they will provide you with the “Complaint Number”.
  3. You have to save the complaint number for future verification and reference purposes.



24/7 SMS Facility:

  1. You can use the 24/7 SMS Facility Number “58888” to register your request/complaint.
  2. The format for sending the SMS is BESCOM  < Sub- division code> < Nature of complaint>. Sub-division code list
  3. For example, for shifting the electric transformer, the SMS format would be “BESCOM N2 Shifting of Electric Transformer”.
  4. You have to type the message in the given format and send it to 58888.
  5. After analyzing the complaint, they will send their acknowledgment message with the “Ticker Number” to the registered mobile number.
  6. If you didn’t receive the ticket number, you can mail your concern to the mail Id” helplinebescom@gmail.com “.
  7. Your mail queries would be forwarded to the concerned Sub-Divisional AEE, EE for necessary action.



Apply through Mobile App:

  1. The Karnataka Electricity Board has introduced the “BESCOM Mithra” mobile app to help consumers in various ways.
  2. You can raise your request for shifting the electric transformer through the “BESCOM Mithra” app.
  3. If you are a “New User”, you have to sign-up with the “Mobile Number” and you will be verified with the One Time Password.
  4. Then you have to enter your account details for “Account Registration” such as:
    • Account ID
    • RR No
    • Relationship (Owner/Tenant/Builder/Land Owner/Association)
  5. After that on the main page, you have to select ‘Complaints” to register your request.
  6. You have to select the “Category and Sub-Category” of the complaint.
  7. Then you have to describe the details of the complaint in the “Complaint Description” box.
  8. There will be two check box which is optional to choose,
    • Receive Call Back
    • Capture my Location
  9. You have to submit the complaint by selecting the “Submit” button.
  10. You can track the status of the registered complaint in the “Complaints History” under the “Complaints” menu.

  • Mobile Number
  • Account ID
  • RR Number

For Apply-In Person, the documents required for the shifting if electric transformer are:

  • Proof of Identity of the applicant, such as:
    • Electoral identity card
    • Passport
    • Driving license
    • Ration card
    • Photo identity card issued by Government agency
    • PAN card
    • Aadhar Card
  • Recently paid Electricity Bill
  • Estimated amount as a Demand Draft
  • Any other document(mentioned by the authorities)

Eligibility

To request a shift in the transformer, the eligibility criteria are:

  • You should have the Consumer Number/RR Number, any valid Identity proof (Ex. Aadhar Card), and the recently paid electricity bill for the mentioned location for shifting.
  • You should be the resident or the owner of the land (leaser too) in the mentioned area for “shifting the electric transformer.”




Fees

  • The fee structure for the shifting of the electric transformer is given by the respective Electricity Board Officials depending on the location, wiring, and the power supply details of the particular transformer/pole.
  • The consumer should bear the cost of shifting the transformer/pole.
  • The evaluated fee should be paid in the form of a Demand Draft to the BESCOM.

Processing Time

  • The processing time is depended on the location, wiring, and power supply details of the particular transformer/pole that needs to be shifted.
  • The authorities of the local Electricity board will take a survey and give the estimated processing time for the shifting.

Others

  • If there is no progress in the registered complaint, you can attend the Customer Interaction Meeting (CIM)
  • This happens on the 3rd Saturday of every month from 3 pm to 5.30 pm at all Sub Divisions to resolve and redress the complaints of consumers.
  • The SUPERINTENDING ENGINEER (SE) and the EXECUTIVE ENGINEER (EE) of the division will be present at the meeting.
  • You can address your problems in regards to the Electricity Board and it will be addressed by the officials.
  • If you are not satisfied with the service from the CIM, you can further contact Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF), which is a quasi-judicial body.
