Karnataka - Apply for Senior Citizen Certificate

Apply through Phone Call

  • You can apply by calling "14567" which is a National Helpline for the Elders and they should be able to facilitate you to get a Senior Citizen Certifiate or Identity Card.

Apply Online:

  1. To Apply for Senior Citizen Certificate, the applicant has to use the following link – link
  2. If the applicant is a new user click the “Register HERE” button.
  3. The applicant has to enter the Aadhar number in the newly opened page.
  4. The applicant will get the OTP from the registered mobile number.
  5. The applicant has to enter the OTP number and click the “Allow” button.
  6. The applicant has to enter all the Email ID, Password, Phone number and click the “Submit” button.
  7. Now, the applicant has to login and click the “LOGIN IN”.
  8. The applicant has to select the respective department and the applying certificate.
  9. Enter all the details in the application form.
  10. Make sure that the applicant has to upload all the necessary documents which is mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  11. There is no fee for this procedure.
  12. After completion, the applicant has to click the “Submit” button.
  13. Once the verification process gets done by the respective officer.
  14. The applicant gets the notification of successful process through mail or SMS.
  15. The applicant will get the senior citizen card by post.
  16. The processing time for this procedure is within 21 days.

Apply In Person:

  1. To Apply for Senior Citizen Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Department for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens – link
  2. The applicant has to download the form from the following link – link
  3. Enter all the details in the application form.
  4. Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents which is mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Submit all the completed form and along with the required documents to the respective department officer.
  6. There is no fee for this procedure.
  7. Once the verification process gets done by the respective officer.
  8. The applicant gets the notification of successful process through mail or SMS.
  9. The applicant will get the senior citizen card by post.
  10. The processing time for this procedure is within 21 days.

The Deputy Director Women & Child Development Department of the concerned district identifies NGOs to issue Identity Cards to Senior Citizens. You may get your "Senior Citizen Certificate" from the concerned Tehsildar in your area.

Need for the Document

  • The Government of India provides facilities for citizens above the age of 60 years. In order to avail those facilities one has to get the certificate.
  • The senior citizen certificate will allow the holder to receive numerous benefits like discounts in Railways, Flights and other benefits from the government.

  • Without cross signature(half on paper and half on photograph) and signature on undertaking, the application will be rejected.
  • One has to produce the card to prove the authorities whenever asked for So, this card must be carried always.
NOTE : It is a punishable offense to try with fraudulent documents to get a Senior citizen certificate.




Other uses of the Document/Certificate

This card contains all the necessary details regarding the identity of the holder. This card, endorsed by a government authority, is an authentic proof of the date of birth and address of the card holder.

The ID card enables elders to utilise the various benefits available to them, in hospitals, labs, medical shops, buses, railways, airways and other places. It is also helpful in times of emergencies, for easy identification.
