Apply in Person:

1. To Renew Driver License in Jammu and Kashmir, the applicant has to approach nearby RTO office link
2. The applicant has to obtain the right application form from the concerned officer.
3. The applicant has to enter all the necessary details in the application form (Incomplete application forms are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. The authority will review the application form. The concerned office will intimate the applicant about the fee amount.
7. The applicant has to pay the application fee of Rs. 200 and an additional fee of Rs. 1000 in case of delay for more than one year or so from the date of expiry.
8. Once all the above-mentioned steps are complete and the submitted report is satisfactory. The Applicant gets notification from the department. Please follow the notification to get the certificate.
9. The processing time of this procedure takes up to one month.

1. To renew driver license, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
2. In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
3. The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
4. Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
5. The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
6. Please follow the steps to complete the application.

A Driving license is valid for 20 years from the date of issue or till you turn 50 years of age, whichever happens earlier. However, if your license is for a commercial, passenger or goods vehicle it must be renewed after every three years.
