Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant shall apply with the designated registering authority (Commissioner/Deputy Director) of their local energy development agency as applicable to obtain renewable energy certificate – REC.

3. Applicants who fulfil the eligibility criteria, listed under the eligibility section below can apply for the accreditation to concerned state agency.
4. Please consult for your requirement with the authority.
5. Obtain the application form or write on a sheet of paper as advised.
6. Submit the completed application form along with required documents as mentioned in the required documents section below.
7. Applicant has to make non-refundable processing fee and accreditation charges (one time and annual, if any) as determined by the appropriate state electricity regulatory commission from time to time.
8. The state agency shall assign a unique acknowledgement number to the applicant for each application for accreditation of its RE generation project, for any future correspondence.
9. After receipt of application in physical form for accreditation, the state agency shall conduct a preliminary scrutiny to ensure application form is complete in all respect along with necessary documents and applicable processing fees and accreditation charges.
10. The state agency shall undertake preliminary scrutiny of the application
11. After conducting the preliminary scrutiny, the state agency shall intimate in writing to the applicant for submission of any further information, if necessary, to further consider the application for accreditation or reject application.
    1. The reasons for rejecting the application for accreditation shall be recorded and intimated to applicant in writing within 2 working days from date of receipt of the completed application.
12. Authorities will Inspect the location. After all the above process is successful, the state agency shall grant 'Certificate for Registration' to the concerned Applicant as 'Eligible Entity'.
13. The issuance of certificate from authorities can be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying as per applicable norms.
14. The specific entity-wise and project-wise code number granted shall be used by the such applicant (Eligible Entities) for all future correspondence with the State Agency.
15. The state agency shall also intimate registration of eligible entity for particular RE generation project to the following entities,
    1. The host State Agency
    2. The host State Load Despatch center
    3. The Power Exchanges

Apply Online - Obtain Renewable Energy Certificate Online with images

1. To Obtain Renewable Energy Certificate, please go to online portal using the link link
2. In the given page please select “RE Generators”.
3. Then it will take to "Sign Up Details" page where you need to enter details
4. After completing the form with appropriate details, hit “Submit” button
5. After submitting, the applicant will receive an acknowledgement through their e-mail, which is provided with “User Id”.
6. Then the applicant can login with their user ID and Password.
7. A new screen will be provided. Please complete the session prompts as applicable for “Owner detail, Operator detail, Station detail, Connectivity…, Metering details, Clearance details, General details, Fees & Charges, Enclosures” one by one and hit “next” button at the bottom of each session.
8. Make sure that the applicant has to upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
9. In the resulting declaration session, please complete the page requirements and hit “Submit for Accreditation” button.
10. User will get a popup for confirmation. Please click “OK” button.
11. Applicant gets acknowledgement page. Please save it for future reference.
12. This application will be processed by the respective state agency.
13. Please look for the notification from the department and follow their guidelines to complete the registration process.

• A generating company engaged in generation of electricity from renewable energy sources shall be eligible to apply for registration for issuance of and dealing in Certificates if it fulfils the following conditions:
  • It has obtained accreditation from the state agency
  • It does not have any power purchase agreement for the capacity related to such generation to sell electricity
  • It does not sell electricity generated from the plant, either directly or through trader, to an obligated entity

• The REC once issued shall remain valid for One thousand and ninety-five days from the date of issuance of such Certificate.
