Jamaica - Renew Sole Trader Registration


Procedure

Apply In Person

  1. To renew a sole trader registration, you should make your application to the Companies Office of Jamaica (COJ)., please view their contact details and map location through this link: - COJ contacts.
  2. Obtain the application form for renewal from the COJ’s office or download the form from their website: - COJ forms or download the form directly through this link: - Sole Proprietor Form BN1.
  3. Read and complete the form as instructed.
  4. Obtain the required supporting documents and attach them to the application form.
  5. Go to the COJ’s office and pay the renewal fee at the cashier and obtain the payment receipt.
  6. Then submit the complete application to the COJ assisting official at the service section.
  7. The officer will receive your application and issue you a notice of receipt of the application then your application will be forwarded to the necessary authority for approval and processing.
  8. The COJ will verify your application and if it is correct, they will approve it and process a necessary renewal document.
  9. Visit the COJ office on the date indicated on the receipt notice and collect your business registration renewed certificate.


Note that late renewals will incur a charge of J$1000.

Eligibility

  • The applicant should be a holder of a Business registration certificate that needs to be renewed.



Fees

  • Sole Traders renwal fees is J$2,500.



Validity

[edit]

  • A business registration certificate is valid for three years and it should be renewed in due time to avoid extra renewal charges.
