- To apply for the Coffee Import Permit in Jamaica, you should go to the Coffee Industry Board (CIB). Please view the CIB contact details via this link:Link
- Write a letter requesting the approval to import coffee into Jamaica and the letter should contain details of the Supplier, Quantity, and the Type of Coffee
- Obtain the sample of the coffee and submit it to the CIB’s office along with the application letter for coffee importation
- The CIB will review the coffee supply in the Jamaican market with regards to your application and take the coffee samples to the Quality Assurance department to test the coffee sample and obtain the test analysis
- Then the CIB will make a recommendation of your application based on the market supply and test results
- If the recommended that you proceed with importation;
- Then CIB will forward the recommendation to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture, and Fisheries (MICAF) for the minister’s consideration of the recommendation
- The minister will review the recommendation and will prepare a letter addressed to the CIB either approving or rejecting the recommendation
- If the recommendation is rejected by the minister of the CIB recommends that your application is rejected, the CIB will notify you that the application will not be approved and issue you a letter informing you that you have not received the importation permit
- If the minister approves the importation recommendation made by the CIB, the CIB will make an application for the import permit to the Plant Quarantine Division (QPD) on your behalf
- The QPD will approve the application and issue the import permit to the CIB
- Then CIB will issue you the QPD import permit and Coffee Board will prepare an import approval letter providing details of the coffee import permitted and sends it to it you and the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA)
